Estafana Fowler (the youngest Go2max athlete) joined the Baradene cycling team in Auckland this year as a Junior (under 16) and soon made the Junior ‘A’ team.
After only four rides in the Junior ‘A’ team (which included a North Island TTT title) she was promoted to the Senior ‘A’ (Under 19) team and has ridden the last two races at the Auckland TTT Series.
Both the Junior ‘A’ and Senior ‘A’ Baradene teams have won the series with one race to go and Estafana was instrumental in their success; a great achievement for a 15 year old girl. Her strength and improvement has been down to altitude training and endurance nutrition. The results truly do speak for themselves.
Esta says it best about the benefits she has gained since we decided to include altitude into her training: "Since I have been going to the Altitude Centre I feel I have so much power."
As her coach that is wonderful to hear, but what I feel is the best thing to come out of her time doing the altitude sessions is the confidence boost from how she feels in training and the results that have been rapidly coming through.
When riding in a TTT race, you lap off when you’re feeling tired after a good push at the front, Estafana jokingly says: “I forget to lap off, as I just want to keep going…."
